【第ㄧ封信】
好久不見，
你好嗎？
我很好！
這裡開始變冷了，
小鳥告訴我，冬天快要來了。
樹葉們開始跳舞了，
我看見第一片葉子在樹枝上轉呀轉呀轉 ——
一圈、兩圈、三圈
—— 然後輕輕地跳下樹枝。
每片葉子落下的時候，都會發出小小的歌聲，
其他的樹葉也跟著輕輕合唱。
小鳥也跟著它們一起唱，
牠們合唱的歌，好美～
那歌聲讓我有一點點想家，
真希望你也能聽到。

搬進新家不久後的ㄧ個微寒初春清晨，
我收到了一封陌生的信。
這封舊舊的信看起來像已經在路上旅行了很長一段時間，
信封上印著幾枚小小的灰色腳印，
幾片夾在紙頁間的乾枯樹葉掉了出來。
是一封來自小狗的信。

Hi!
It’s been so long. Are you okay?
I’m okay!
It’s getting cold here.
The birds told me winter is on its way.
The leaves are dancing!
I saw the first leaf spin, spin, spin
on its branch—
one, two, three times—
then it let go and danced down!
When each leaf falls,
it makes a tiny, singing sound.
All the leaves are singing,
and the birds sing with them.
It sounds like a secret song,
quiet and soft and lovely.
When I hear it, I think of home.
I wish you could hear it too.

not long after I had moved into my new home,
that I received an unexpected letter.
It appeared to have been traveling for quite a while.
Tiny gray paw prints trailed across the envelope,
and a few dried leaves had slipped in with the paper.
Only then did I realize—
it was a letter from a little dog.
